ERNEST FERNANDEZ, JR. SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
In honor of Ernie’s service to the Chamber and to the Education Community, the Past Presidents & Chairs of the Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce began an annual Scholarship Program in his name for Seniors graduating from Brandon High School.
Purpose
The Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce (GBCC) membership, in coordination with the 501(c)3 non-profit, Angel Foundation of Florida, is offering TWO (2) distinct scholarships to posthumously honor prominent local educator and GBCC Past President, Ernest Fernandez, Jr.
The goal of the GBCC is to offer at least two (2) $1,000.00 scholarships to outstanding local students attending Brandon High School who are pursuing 1) a career in the field of Education OR 2) a Career/Technical Trade.
Scholarship Criteria
Eligibility
Applicants must on-time to graduate in May 2025 and be planning to attend a 4-year university, 2-year community college, or an accredited technical college/trade school. This is not a needs-based scholarship, and the student college of choice is not limited to Florida institutions; however, the intent of each Applicant should be to pursue a degree or certification in Education or a Career/Technical Trade. The number of scholarships distributed each year may vary.
Residency/High School Requirements
Applicants must attend Brandon High School and be residents of Florida. To establish evidence of residency, Applicants must provide a copy of current Florida ID, FL driver’s license, FL learner’s permit, or a piece of mail addressed to Applicant at current address.
